Re: Nothing over 5 words thread
- Spoiler:
- Oddly, in Cuboos' defense, if numbers don't count as words, then that does meet the "Under five words" rule in this thread. No offense to Cuboos; I realize that Cuboos isn't well liked, but we can't jump on him for little things. There have been posts in this thread consisting of no words at all.
Furthermore:- If numbers aren't words: post is fine, because it's under 5 words.
- If numbers are words, that's only one word, because there are no spaces (because it's not fair to say 123,456 is 6 words; it would be one word with 6 characters)
- If it's translated to ASCII binary, it's supposedly 5 words or under, but the translator I found says that it's nonsense. Which means Cuboos made a mistake. Which means it's one of the two previous points.
Stop sniping at each other, please. [/mod] - If numbers aren't words: post is fine, because it's under 5 words.
Without spoiler, haz five words.

- Spoiler:
- i've translated my code and some how part of the original code has be cut out... oddly... leaving only three words, the original quote was "this is only five words", which when retranslated came out as only "this is only"... i've looked at the translators that Grey found, and it's a piece of crap... http://home2.paulschou.net/tools/xlate/ this one works a lot better... though is still kinda finicky... although, if you want to translate it by hand, there is a simple proceadure. (Mac users might not be able to do this..... ha ha.... ) open up the calculator on your computer switch so Scientific Mode (or Programer mode if you have windows 7) and every 8 bits put that into the binary mode of your calculator, then switch back to decimal, you should have 14 decimal values (here they are if you're lazy
- Code:
116 104 105 115 32 105 115 32 111 110 108 121 32 12
also, this one should be better- Code:
011101000110100001101001011100110010000001101001011100110010000001101111011011100110110001111001001000000000110001100110011010010111011001100101001000000111011101101111011100100110010001110011
clever use of spoiler GO![code]

Out of topic and out of spoiler tag because I can't be bothered. This isn't a matter of sniping at Cuboos, this isn't a matter of whether numbers count or not, it's a matter of maintaining a simple understanding of what's written. The majority of the users here have English as their first language and the father site for this forum is written in English, as logic should dictate the written language on the forums should be English. If Cuboos wants to make a "Only type in binary" thread then fine. But in standard threads that don't require typing in another language no one should have to be bothered to look up a translator to figure out what someone is saying. It doesn't matter if it's Cuboos, Archer, Tease, Mike, Nilo, you or myself typing in a different language (or code in this case) the fact is it's irritating and something that can easily be avoided.

- Spoiler:
- I understand completely.
However, we've had plenty of off-topic posts, posts in different languages (including fictional languages), and I know I've personally posted in binary at least once in the past. No one has gotten sniped at for it before. It seems a tad hypocritical to tell someone to lay it off (tersely, mind you), when we've done it in the past without repercussion. Hey, it might have been annoying back then, as you might find it now, but as it stands, it looks like it's the poster that people are having a problem with, not the post itself.
I'm putting all of this out there as a mod. Some of you who have been with the forum since the beginning (or at least since I became a mod) can recall those times in which I've had to rule against those I like and with those I dislike. I'm doing my damnedest to be fair.
If you honestly want to continue this, take it up in a new thread or pm me.
A return to the game.
