Why does Max suddenly have the word censored on her shirt...

I put it down to a simple oversight. Liz does have a lot to think about at the moment, you don't get a clear view of the shirt until the last panel of the previous strip, so forgetting the lettering in one panel is understandable.
Either that, it's a mood shirt and since Maxine is now annoyed, the censored has appeared. Possibly to make guys not realise when she's swearing at them.

Yeah I didn't mean to make it a big deal, I'm just a bit anal about things like that.

...dangit, Liz is too forgiving. I still think Phil deserves at least a gut punch from her. If he were a competent ninja, I'm sure he could've dealt with the mugger non-violently.
...just one little fugu-tipped dart...or even something nonlethal...I'll bet he's not allowed to use poisons because he'd just hurt himself...

Hmmm...then again, maybe we can partially blame mistranslation. Maybe he is on an unarmed mission...naah. He'd still have ninja beat-up skillz, which so far it look like he don't.

to be honest, I didn't think to put "censored" on her shirt until the 2nd day, and forgot to retcon-fix the previous day's strip. ;^_^ It's fixed now, as it'll look weird in the book if I don't.

Well non-violent mission or not he really needs to work on his stealth skills, being pulled into a whatever story window by the people you are watching is kinda embarassing.

He did manage to exercise stealth by catching a picture of the perp without Liz or him noticing.
