I realise I never intoduced myself, although now I'm wondering if there's much point seeing as this thread has evolved into somthing else.

Welcome to the forums. Apparantly this sort of thread hijacking, diversion, robbery of posters and then derailment is normal. Or at least from what I have seen so far, so I wouldnt worry about it.

Chay, there's always time to introduce yourself. And I'll try and not encourage the derailment of threads...

Don't worry, that's the norm around here. I'm surprised this thread hasn't been locked and redone yet.

Re: Introduce Yourself
Don't say that, this thread shows how we here welcome newcomers... it also shows how badly we all need a good dose of ADD medication some days.
But its great to see what bringing so many creative minds can create... a monster.

Re: Introduce Yourself
Considering some of the forums I've had the displeasure of being a member of, this one actually welcomes people... Yeah, we're all slightly crazy and different, but that what makes this forum fun to visit. We're all individuals, and happily show off our individualism to the others.
I've made more friends on this forum than any of the others put together. And for that alone makes how we do things worthwhile. Admittedly we should really tone down the insane sketch shows that spring to life on here (I said tone down, not stop)

Re: Introduce Yourself
Why ever would we want to do that? We're a small group, we're not bothering anybody with our inane actions in our little corner of t3h intrawebz.
Which is why this thread hasn't been destroyed yet by Liz. She understands our madness.

Re: Introduce Yourself
Thought: Can you imagine the number of little yellow vans with men in white coats sent out looking for us, if we did this on a Psychology Forum?
Oh gods... that sounds like the start of another sketch... us lot on the run from Arkham... NO!! BAD THREAD USERS!! BAD!!!
Not even starting that one.

Personally, I'm already on the run from the people in lab coats. But the coats aren't white. They're blue.

Personally I take a blue pill almost every day. It keeps the men in the black suits away.

What I really worry about are the people in the red suits. You don't see them often, but man, when you do...
shenanigans.

Re: Introduce Yourself
At some point though, we do have to draw the rping line. 'Cause as much fun as the silliness is, we do have to remember what the actual topic is. Sometimes it really drives me crazy when I'm trying to discuss something and someone comes along and is all "I'm a 8-foot wolf with lightening powers and blah blah blah" that bugs me. Especially if I'm talking about something serious, or something that doesn't even come close to any semblance of an rp.
(and the next time we start one, I really think we need better structure to start with...really)

Pan, what you said makes sense, It does get annoying when someone does go something wierd in the middle of a serious disussion (I know, you should meet some of my friends...) and the structure thing for any future RP is a good idea... Somrthing to do, be back shortly.

Re: Introduce Yourself
Maybe a "Fourm RP rules" thread should be started? seeing as this is still not on topic.

Perhaps a good idea. Usually when I start an rp, the rp itself has it's own set of rules, but general rp rules are a good idea.

Re: Introduce Yourself
Well, it might be down to determining everyone's style o' rp-ing. The bunch I've done with in the past are drastically different than you lot, let me tell you.
For example, I tend to para-rp, which is rp with entire paragraphs worth of the situation, environment, details, and finally actions.
But I don't know if we really need rules as such. I think we can all agree that we don't control each other (except in rare occasions when we have to ) and when doing something, we wait for other people to respond. Really, is there more to it than that, other than scenario-specific rules?
