One way is to start farming herbs, leather, or ore and sell them on the auction house.
Another is to go after any and all NPCs and start knocking them out for their copper and silver. (This is better done at a higher lvl, and when you can go into a low lvl dungeon by yourself.)
Depending on what realm you are in, making refined goods such as armor, and weapons is not a great way to make gold unless it is high lvl, so farming is your better bet for now.

Take Leatherworkin' and Minin' as skills. Go around minin' and skinnin everythin' you can. DO NOT TRY AND COMPETE WITH THE GOLD FARMERS IN THE AUCTION HOUSE. Their prices are insane. Mah prices I put mah paladin's leather and ore into the auction house were:
Light leather/Copper Bars/Tin Bars: 20 silver.
Medium leather/Bronze Bars: 40 silver.
Heavy leather/Iron Bars: 75 silver.
Won't bother with the higher grades as these are the ones you'll readily get. The Iron you can get near Hammerfall (there's two nodes that spawn near to the town, so if any of the critters take interest, you can leg it into safety. I've mined those two at 19th level as mah Tauren Warrior). At those "low" prices, you're 95% guaranteed to sell your stacks, even if it's the Gold Farmers tryin' to remove the competition.
Followin' mah undercuttin' and still profiteerin' ways, mah characters frequently had 50-100 GOLD as ready cash.
