The Cinema
Since summer term started I have an abundant amount of free time to kill, and all of the TV shows I watch are having their season finales.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button just came out to DVD, if you haven't seen it you should check it out.

Re: The Cinema
There's a movie called Outlander that is new (atleast here in Sweden). It's about Vikings versus aliens. That sentence alone would make it worth to check out.

If you haven't seen it already, I'd suggest Monsters Versus Aliens. I thought it was good.

Crank: High Voltage.
That movie is just batsh*t INSANE. Doesn't matter if you haven't seen the first one. It's so damn outrageous that you'll still get a serious kick out of it. There's talking heads floating in tanks futurama-style and goofy godzilla-like battles with people in masks. GO SEE THIS FILM. It's crazy.

I'm currently drawing myself as a succubus. I was told the other day that I could have any man I wanted, so I made a joke about having horns, and the person who was talking to me said I must be a succubus. So...there we go. I'm a succubus.

Depends on the method of extraction used.
And on the subject of movie-films:
Star Trek: it's ok, not really living up to the hype but good asa stand alone
Outlander: It does have vikings and aliens but I cant help but think it could have been better. It's a good moviefilm though.
Moviefilms the Chay recomends:
Dunno if these are out on DVD everywhere, should think so though.
The Boat that Rocked
Rockn'rolla
Burn after reading
Shoot em up
Taken
Titan AE
Dark Crystal
I'm tempted to also add to the list Lesbian Vampire Killers becuase I enjoyed it at the time but the more I think about it the more I'm a little unnerved about the seemingly anti-gay message it contains.

Titan AE and the Dark Crystal are definitely on DVD. Have been for a while. Titan AE is my favorite sci-fi movie. Got way less credit than it deserved.

I've seen both X-men Origins: Wolverine and Star Trek, and recommend seeing both.

I have not yet gotten to see Star Trek, but Wolverine I give at best a C. It was full of Hugh Jackman-y goodness, but was none too accurate.

Re: The Cinema
Haven't seen eoither of them, but Wolverine's inaccuracy with Deadpool has kinda put me off of seeing it, though Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds go a long way to making me want to see it. Not saying what inaccuracy but NO!!!!! Bad Hollywood!!!

Re: The Cinema
I've heard some people complaining about the Xmen movie innacuracies. Having never read the comcis, the movie doesn't bother me. I guess it's similar to DaVinci Code. I thought the book was great, but the movie blew chunks, while talking to people who thought that the movie was great, but never read the book.
But in any case, Star Trek is very worth seeing.

Haven't seen the new Star Trek movie, but if the trailers hint at what I think they hinted at (Kirk and Uhura getting it on), I'll be back in the vent room pretty damn fast.

Re: The Cinema
Star Trek is definitely on my "to see" list. I was skeptical about it's quality, since most of the sequels that hollywood has produced lately have been "meh" at best, but since most of the people I've asked have said that it's awesome I'm gonna go see it.
I've seen Titan AE (definitely one of my favorites, although The 5th Element and Serenity edge it out of the top slot)
and Dark Crystal. Great childhood memories with that one.
Burn After Reading was very... Cohen Bros. I dunno, it seemed a little aimless and I didn't really ever care about the characters. Have you seen The Hudsucker Proxy? It's another C. Bros film, but I liked it a lot better since it had characters that you could empathize with. The ones in B.A.R. were so dysfunctional that they were unbelievable.

What is there to complain about? From what I remember, Kirk was quite a womanizer in the original series, so there's nothing really different here.

Yeah, but Kirk and Uhura may have had feelings other than friendship for each other, but they don't express those feeling until Kirk has been Captain for several years in the original series. That kiss is all they ever share, and it was an important symbol of new thinking, equality and a first in the annals of television. That kiss is THE FIRST interracial kiss ever broadcast. Something like that should not be tarnished by a modern day producer looking to give his audience cheap thrills... *heads back to the Vent thread*
