    Voice Comic? Empty Voice Comic?

Post by UFAlien Sat Jul 24, 2010 10:35 pm

I've seen this done for a couple other comics, Slightly Damned included... It could be interesting to have forum members provide voices for the comic cast. I'd find it fun, anyway Very Happy

Obviously we'd need permission from Liz and enough people to be interested, but it could be cool. Besides, I miss voice acting. I was supposed to be the new cohost/voice actor of the Sonic Show podcast before they changed the formats and did away with hosts...

    ANYWAY

If anyone is interested or wants to comment, lemme know ^^

Interestin' concept. Though mah Irish accent's so thick I can beat people with it, and unfortunately makes me totally incomprehensible on recordings or through microphones... Mah old WoW guild found that one out the hard way...

I'm of an Irish heritage, but I can't do the accent to save my life. I can do German and British, though.

I'd do it. I love to play with my voice; I practice accents and dialects all the time.

Mostly by myself in front of a mirror, so I have no idea how good I really am at it, but I could give it a shot.

Which comic were you thinking of doing? And who'd do what role?

    *is intrigued*

Well I'd like to see who'd be interested in what roles first. Then we can pick a comic based on where those characters appear. Did you have anyone in mind?

Theoretically, I could do a really terrible female character's voice, but I was thinking of sticking with a male character. ;3

You know, I was actually thinking of doing Sylver. Something about voicing a sexist jerk is appealing. Or funny, one of the two. But I'm also interested in doin' Zig.

For whatever reason, I don't really want to do Bob. I dunno why.

XD Those were the exact same two I was interested in. Although Rex could also be fun... and I could do Sid, I suppose.

Actually, I just did a little test, and I'd LOVE to do Rex ^^

Here it is... played with noise reduction to make it sound robot-ish. End got cut off, but hey, it's only a test.

Oh man, I could totally do the superintendent (his name escapes me at the moment).

I always imagine him with a good ol boy country Texan accent, and, well, I am from Texas.

Once I'm no longer in public, I'll record something for each Zig, Sylver, and Rodney (thanks Tease) and stick it up tomorrow when I have internet again.

UF, I recommend using dropbox for uploading audio.

This is great idea. Sadly I have a Mono tone voice. You guys could have A Youtube account for voicing the comics. There is a comic I read at does this on youtube, VG Cats. Smile

You don't have to take my suggestions for gospel, but if you're interested, here's how I imagined some of the characters to sound:

Sunny would have a very faint southern accent. Not strong, and not anything that can necessarily be placed to a state.

Inix also has an accent, although I haven't decided what. It ends up sounding a little eastern european/russian in my head, but really anything would work as long as she sounds regal.

Zig i picture having a deep-ish voice. Nothing really more specific than that.

Grot has a deep but very soft, almost mumbling voice, and Zel talks very loudly & dramatically like the Monarch from Venture Brothers, although not in the same high-nasally voice.

Anything beyond that I haven't really given much thought, so use your imagination. And again, don't feel like you HAVE to go with my suggestions. If you find something that works better for a character, go with it!

In theatre I wrote the script, but I did not act because of my machine like voice. In fact i was not aloud to act, becuase my theatre/drmam teacher said I would disturb the atmosphere. At least I got to inprove my writing skills.

That's dumb... aren't teachers supposed to TEACH you things?

Anyway, here's my Rex test on Dropbox. Once again, I'd love opinions.

There is only one person (in mah opinion) who can do Lizardbeth's voice, and that's Liz herself.
